Food waste reduction promotion - Through ‘Warwickshire Recycles’ across the web, social media, newsletters and community events, Warwickshire County Council (WCC) promotes waste minimisation. Within the community, there is the aim for Warwickshire to recognise food waste occurs and which steps can be taken to stop this such as planning, storing food correctly.
Warwickshire Reuse Shops – The recycling centres across Warwickshire accept donations for reuse shops with proceeds going towards community activities. The shops also, provide employment and voluntary opportunities and sometimes host workers on probation or from Youth Justice.
Meon Vale home composting support – Support has been given to 100 households to start home compositing through free bin support and training to save on compost and kerbside green waste collections.
St Pauls School Uniform reuse shop – An onsite space where pre-loved uniform can be displayed in an organised way to make acquiring second hand uniform more appealing to save on the expense of buying new uniform every time a child grows or changes school. Also offering second hand items such as dressing up clothes and party wear .
Solar Vision Lighting Technologies – This small business provides off-grid solar lighting across the local community in areas such as streets, schools and shopping centres. The business benefitted through support from WCC’s Local Community and Enterprise Fund, one of the pillars of the Warwickshire Recovery Investment Fund. The Fund supports small and micro businesses’ accessing economic support when mainstream lending is difficult to access.
